The Australian stone industry deserves the best attention from those who care about it - we industry "stakeholders" made up of stonemasonry employers, tradesmen, apprentices, training organisations, union members and regulatory authorities. At a time of economic downturn, it is imperative that we prepare for future prosperity by maintaining skills in the workplace. With the revised national training package scheduled for implementation next year, we must establish dialogue between training organisations and employers to make sure that training delivery and assessment meets industry needs.
Ideally, we should meet face-to-face as much as possible, although the geographic spread of industry members renders long-distance travel unsustainable. Online meetings using a web tool such as Flashmeeting, Skype, Elluminate or VetVirtual are an alternative. I propose that we use Flashmeeting as it is easy to record for the benefit of an auditor.
Join me Tuesday 14th July 3:30pm - 4:30pm by accessing this link: http://flashmeeting.e2bn.net/fm/295ebb-6992
As a first meeting, it will be a handy way to introduce ourselves ready for further discussions.
You can take part just using text chat with a computer keyboard, but it will be easier with a microphone headset and webcam as well. Click the "Open test application" before the meeting time to check connections.
The meeting has been posted as a Facebook event in the stonemasonry group at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118705617655
